Can Fibroids be mananaged with out Surgery?

" How  can I get ride of Fibroids with out undergoing an operation?" some one asked.

Many women wonder whether fibroids can improve without surgery. The answer is: sometimes yes and sometimes no,  depending on the size, location, symptoms, hormonal environment, fertility goals and overall metabolic health of the individual.

As a medical doctor with a focus on metabolic and functional health, I believe in looking beyond the fibroid itself and exploring the underlying factors that may contribute to fibroid growth, including:
estrogen dominance
insulin resistance
chronic inflammation
obesity or excess visceral fat
poor sleep and chronic stress, gut and liver health, nutrient deficiencies.
At the same time, it is important to understand that fibroid management is not only “natural vs surgery.” There are several non-surgical medical options that may help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

Non-Surgical Medical Options;
Depending on the individual case, doctors may recommend medications or minimally invasive treatments such as:
Hormonal Treatments;
These may help control heavy bleeding and slow fibroid-related symptoms. These include
combined oral contraceptive pills,
progesterone therapy,
hormonal IUDs,
GnRH agonists or antagonists (used in selected cases)

Medications for Symptoms
Some women benefit from:
tranexamic acid for heavy menstrual bleeding,
anti-inflammatory pain medication,
iron supplementation if anemia is present.
Minimally Invasive Procedures; Certain procedures may shrink fibroids or reduce symptoms without major surgery, including:
uterine artery embolization (UAE), MRI-guided focused ultrasound, radiofrequency ablation
These options are not suitable for everyone, especially depending on fertility goals and fibroid location, so individualized medical assessment is important.

A Functional & Metabolic Health Perspective
While some women may still require procedures or surgery, many also benefit from addressing the metabolic and hormonal environment that can influence fibroid growth and symptoms.
Nutrition
An anti-inflammatory, fiber-rich diet may support hormonal balance and estrogen metabolism. This often includes:
vegetables and legumes,
quality protein, omega-3-rich foods, reducing excess sugar and ultra-processed foods.
Metabolic Health
Insulin resistance and excess body fat can influence estrogen activity. Improving metabolic health through nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management may help support symptom improvement.
Liver & Gut Health
The liver and gut play important roles in hormone metabolism and estrogen clearance.
Stress & Sleep
Chronic stress and poor sleep may worsen inflammation and hormonal imbalance. Nervous system regulation, restorative sleep, emotional support, and gentle movement can all play supportive roles.

🔑 Key Note( very important)

Not every fibroid can or should be managed conservatively. Please seek medical evaluation if you experience:
severe bleeding
anemia
infertility
rapid abdominal enlargement
severe pain
pressure symptoms affecting urination or bowel movements

Fibroids are highly individualized, and treatment should always be tailored to the patient’s symptoms, goals, and overall health.
"Fertility and metabolic health are connected  and your body can heal when you understand why."
